The Photography of Chaya Spector

Behind the Scenes:
Bookkeeper Showed Her Photographs at Ackerman's
By Lauri Puchall

Chaya Spector is Ackerman's Servicing Volvos bookkeeper. Chaya has run her own business, Bookkeeping Services Etc.--specializing in small businesses and non-profits--for the past ten years. Working on her own gives Chaya the flexibility to travel and photograph the flora and fauna in the exotic places she visits.

When she is not traveling, Chaya photographs ferns, insects, birds, and roses in her large Oakland garden and the wildlife at Point Reyes. She began making black and white prints while living in Ithaca, New York, and photographing family and friends to document significant events in her life. Later she switched to color nature photography when she discovered traveling.

Chaya is a self taught Photographer and mixed media artist living in Oakland for the past 25 years. Nature has been a primary source for her images, being drawn in by the many colors and textures.

More recently, she has been working with her partner doing social documentary photography with The CITTI Project of which she is a founder.

cittiproject-The CITTI Project is a non-profit devoted to bringing assistive and adaptive techniques to the developing world for use in daily living aids and educational needs in working with children and adults with physical disabilities.
